Economic Development Commission
The EDC is dedicated to encouraging and stimulating economic growth in the community. Working partnerships between the town, local business, and the Chamber assure the continued development of Branford’s economic base for the future.

Fire Department
Fire protection and paramedic service is provided by 30 full-time firefighters and six volunteer fire companies, staffed with approximately 75 volunteers. Dispatchers are accessible through an emergency 911 system administered jointly by the police department and fire department.

The Land Use Departments: Building, Engineering, Planning and Zoning, Wetlands
The land use departments provide “one stop shopping”—all permit applications are available in one place and department staff are available for consultation on any project.

Libraries
The town has two libraries, the Willoughby Wallace Memorial Library, and the James Blackstone Memorial Library. Both are staffed by full and part-time professional staff, and include more than 100,000 volumes for public use.

Police Department
The Police Department provides full-time police protection, utilizing computer-aided dispatches and mobile computing to provide public safety services. More than 75 professionals, including a youth officer, dog warden, and two domestic counselors, staff the department.

Department of Public Works
The department is responsible for maintenance of more than 100 miles of roadway and associated drainage facilities and structures.

Solid Waste & Recycling
The town operates a transfer station, recycling center, and leaf compost site at no charge for town residents.

Water Pollution Control Department
The Town of Branford owns and operates an award-winning Water Pollution Control Facility, which collects and treats sewage from approximately 100 miles of sewers and 49 pump stations in Branford as well as sewage from a portion of North Branford.
